Guidebooks

    Every author should have:
  • The Chicago Manual of Style: Fifteenth Edition,
  • Merriam-Webster’s Collegiate Dictionary: Eleventh Edition, and
  • The Elements of Style, By Strunk and White, any edition.

These are the bibles, so to speak, for authors of books. For a clear, simple, reference work on grammar, I like Grammatically Correct, by Anne Stilman. The Chicago Guide can be confusing.
