BIXBY PARK TO HOST A CHILLING HALLOWEEN EXPERIENCE AND GOURMET FOOD

Fundraiser on 10/29) One of the scariest days of the year will be celebrated by Long Beach families and thrill-seekers when Friends of Bixby Park and Long Beach Department of Parks, Recreation and Marine will hosts its second annual “Bixby Park Halloween Carnival” from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, October 29th. The day will be complete with prizes for carnival games, Halloween costume contest, ghoulish activities, Edgar Allen Poe-try Contest, Best Home-Decorated/Home-Carved Pumpkin Contest and Scary Arts and Crafts. Tickets cost 50 cents each, contest entries are $2 and bouncer is $1. The event will have gourmet food trucks, too; Crazy Creole Cafe, Mandoline Grill, Slapfish, Curbside Cravings, Canter's, Grilled Cheese Patrol, Macho Nacho, Chunk n Chip, and Atomic Cafe will be serving their tasty creations to all the spooky spectators. Bixby Park is located on the corner of 1st and Junipero Streets in Long Beach—between Broadway Ave. and Ocean Ave. Proceeds from the event will be used for new park furnishings. For more information, please contact (562) 983-8139. Bixby Park will be transformed into a scary forest with bats, ghosts, witches and werewolves. This is a family event for all ages. Carnival goers are encouraged to dress up in their finest Halloween attire and enjoy the day’s ghoulish activities. A costume contest will take place at 2 p.m., participants will pay a $2 entry fee. Attendees are encouraged to bring their best home-decorated/home-carved pumpkins and enter them in a pumpkin contest for $2. During the afternoon actors dressed as Bram Stoker and Mary Shelly will perform excerpts from the novelists’ famous works. Performances will take place near the bandshell at Noon, 1 p.m. and 2 p.m. Bixby Park Halloween Carnival sponsors include: ZPizza, Long Beach Museum of Art, Park Pantry, Sasha Witte Design, Beachrunners Inn, Spa Sidney, Aquarium of the Pacific, Media Boutique, Zieba Builders, On Broadway Business Association and Grunion Gazette.
