WikiBrowser

The WikiBrowser is really an offshoot of the PropComp, hopefully it will serve as a feature application for the computer when it is completed. Basically the goal for this specific application is to make WIkipedia quickly accessible (any article withing 5 seconds, including booting the computer up) from wherever you are, even if that place doesn't have the internet or you don't have a laptop. The basic structure of this will also serve as an internet browser in the final version of our computer, as it deconstructs the HTML in the wiki articles. As you can see from the video, the setup isn't very small, but we actually have one in a smaller form factor, with all the electronics fitting under the keyboard. All the articles from the entirety of 2003 Wikipedia (turns out Wikipedia from that year just barely fits within the 2 gig SD card that I have) are placed on an SD card and accessed from a simple search box. You enter a search term and the browser shows a list of up to 25 of the top results. From there you can choose one of the articles just by moving a cursor with the arrow keys and hitting enter. The article loads, and you can scroll up and down it using the arrow keys. When you are done you just hit escape and it takes you back to the search box.
