Why do we need donations? We always need money for our projects, so if there are any people out their willing to spare a little money we would be very grateful. The only way at the present time that we can expand our work is with donations. Any donations to us are handled by a secure PayPal transaction so your information is safe from phishing and the like. How to Donate: You have to have a PayPal account to give us a donation, but if you follow these instructions you can get one quickly and easily.1. Click on the "Donate!" link below to go to the PayPal site (you might want to right click on it and choose to open it in another tab so you can still read these directions). 2. Click on the button that says "send money" as is shown in the picture below: 3. Fill out the "Send Money" form with whatever your email address is, our email address (thebitwinproject@gmail.com), and the amount of money you want to donate in U.S. Dollars. Leave the "for" option set as "Service/Other" and hit continue. When you hit continue you will be prompted to either enter your information to get a PayPal account, or to log into your existing account. Just follow the directions on the PayPal site and shortly you will have given us a donation. The "Send Money" area is shown in the picture below: Donate! Our Wish List: We know that people will be a little reluctant to give money with no strings attached to adolescent kids over the internet, so we've compiled a list of things that we will be spending the money on, and why we want to spend the money on them. If you are willing to buy us one of these things outright then we would be more than happy to get in contact with you, just head over to our contact us page and send us an email. This is how we will break apart donations:
- 50% goes to parts that we need to complete projects, like resistors, capacitors, transistors, etc.
- 40% gets split and saved seperately among the various medium-expensive items listed below.
- 10% gets placed in a fund to buy us dedicated work laptops for coding and development.
- Parts- We always need various little components to complete the projects we have going on. Most of the donations we get will be going towards these.
- Laptop- Little brothers love computers, and moms love little brothers, so more often than not I end up being kicked off of the computer so they can play. This really reduces my productivity, so I am looking for a cheap laptop that I can use to develop code with.
- GPS Module($90)- We have many cool projects in mind that use GPS, and it wouldn't be unfun to make our PropComp have GPS capabilities.
- Arduino Mega($65)- We need a Arduino Mega to continue our efforts on the CS Project, which has come to a stand-still because we are stone broke. The Arduino Mega has 4 UART lines, which means we can connect 4 modules at once and it can serve as the sync module. It is also amazingly powerful and could turn into many different really cool projects.
- Prop Dongle($70)- This $70 Prop Dev Board would go a long way to making the PropComp cheap enough to start selling. With minimal other components we could make the computer, and it would cost well under $100 as long as the user has the screen, keyboard, and mouse already.
- SpeakJet($25)- Things that talk are just awesome, and we want our PropComp to be able to talk so that it can operate without a screen, as well as being able to talk to blind people, and just be able to talk when you want it to. Maybe you could get one for yourself and an extra one for us :D.
- BrightStar Laser Cutter($6950)- If you got us one of these you would be our god and we would love you forever. We always get bogged down on the mechanical side of projects. If we had one of these we could rapidly develop mechanical parts and also cases for existing projects. We like the way that oomlout makes parts out of acrylic, that would be our method of choice most likely if we got a laser cutter.
- MP3 Dev Kit($200)- This is in no way important to any of our current projects, but it would be awesome, and would result in a cool open-source media player to replace an iPod.
Thank You: Without donations we would be stuck. Electronic parts and equipment are expensive, and as teenagers too young for a real job we have no money for them. By giving us money you are supporting a project that may one day turn into something massive, and we don't let our friends go unrewarded ;) TYVM & I <3 u, etc. :D |
