Web Journalism :: blogs and suchlike

Immediate comments from Paul in Red.
  • Josh Surtees: http://lovesoflondon.blogspot.com As you may know, there are things that London loves. Find out what those things are each week by reading my new blog London Loves. Please feel free to add your own comments on each week's topic giving me your own stories.
    • Think about using a tag londonloves and encouraging everyone to use it when they write, photograph, video or whatever their 'London Loves snapshots'. Then you can pull them all together using Yahoopipes or rss searches.

  • Gregg Morgan: http://ifiwerebuilt.wordpress.com/ This blog is a filter. These happenings have stimulated my existence.
    • Think about a clear statement on the page saying what this place is, what I can get and what I can do.

  • Julia Dennison: http://twitter.com/notfortourists. I will be making all the London tweets on this larger guidebook publisher’s Twitter page (www.notfortourists.com) consisting of anything and everything that’s happening in London – from events to new restaurant openings. I have to then back up my posts with a page on the guidebook’s website, which will consist of write-ups on most of what I post. I will have to interact with 2,000+ followers and find out what they look for in their city.
    • Need to think about what you can do differently in Twitter and Blogspace, what are the different relationships?

  • Martin Redfern: hyperlative.com. You can read more about this project on the site, so suffice it to say that I am hoping to use it to discover not only that network nodes can successfully be created without financial or social capital, but also that hyperpersonal news streams can contribute something truly useful to our understanding of the wider web, as well as the world beyond.
    • Frontpage at the mo looks like Clay Shirky writes it! Need something on the front saying what your/site's USP is. What makes this place different from every other social media commentary site around? Introduce yourself and your world like at a party.

  • Hannah Doherty: www.hannahdoherty.wordpress.com My blog is called The Fenchurch Forum and it is essentially a blog for commuters about commuting. Not being really egotistical with the address name but when I signed up for the account I put my name in as username and now I can't figure out how to change it, if someone could tell me how that would be great.
    • Think about a more direct call to action on the about page. 'Comment' is a bit general. Maybe a challenge, a game something direct you are asking them to do.
  • Rosa Ellis: www.rosaellis.wordpress.com this is my blog which will review how charities publicise their messages, i've focused mainly on short films so far but hope to talk more about social media and how different charities make use of it, once I know more about it...
  • Homam Al-Bahrani: ...back to the drawing board...I hope to have something final in the next few days
  • Toral Pattni - www.explosivechutney.wordpress.com - yes, quite a strange name. Something I've drawn up and am working on at the moment - the theme and target audience may well change over the course of its development but I figured this was a good place to start.
