Unconfirmed and Future Possibilities

What does the future hold for rare birds at the Water Ranch?  The following two lists of an additional 82 species that could be added to the Water Ranch list show the potential for reaching over 300 species. 


Unconfirmed: the following 12 species have been plausibly reported at the Water Ranch but require further confirmation:

  • Golden Eagle
  • Crested Caracara
  • Black-bellied Plover
  • Common Nighthawk
  • White-throated Swift
  • Ruby-throated Hummingbird
  • Western Scrub-Jay
  • Crissal Thrasher

  • Pine Siskin


Wish List:  The following is a list of 68 additional species not currently on the list that seem at least plausible to occur at the Water Ranch. For some of these species (Hooded Warbler, Chestnut-sided Warbler) it is surprising that they have not already occurred and seem very likely in the future.   I have divided the list into those birds that I think are likely to be added soon to the Water Ranch list and those that are plausible but less likely.
