Help Us Maintain this Sportclimbing Gem!

Who: We are a group of Southeastern  PA climbers seeking to maintain and develop new sport climbing sites in Southeastern PA.

What: We are hosting a Clean and Climb at the old quarry in Birdsboro.  We will maintain trails, haul debris, enjoy some climbing and socializing with fellow climbers.

Additionally we will be bringing in equipment and setting up "UCanClimb2" stations on some of the easier climbs to intoduce beginners and gym climbers to rock climbing.  Beginners of all ages are welcome to try climbing at our UCanClimb2 stations.  All equipment and instruction will be provided free of charge.

Where: Birdsboro Quarry

When: Camping starts on Friday September 26th

September 27th 9AM-6:30PM  Cleaning, Learn2Climb sessions, climbing followed by a cookout/lecture at 6:30 PM at the Rustic Pavillion in Hay Creek Park. The fee for dinner and 2 raffle tickets is $10 per person, these funds will be used to help fund future climbs and a porta potty for the 2009 climbing season.  We are also holding a gear swap on Saturday night.  Bring your gear, trade or swap for more.

September 28th 9AM -5PM Climbing and UCanClimb2.

We will have a raffle for lots of fun prizes to help raise funds for bolt/anchor replacement and general crag maintenance.

We are also selling a commerative (fund raising) T shirt for $20 per shirt.  (Again, the funds will be used to maintain the climbing area.)

This event will be held RAIN OR SHINE.

This event is free.  Please come and show your support for Birdsboro!  Encourage new climbers to attend as they can experience real rock and meet area climbers.

Directions: 422 West, to 82 South (left on 82 towards Birdsboro), go through the town of Birdsboro and follow the road to a dead end at the Hay Creek Park.  Ignore the "road closed ahead signs", you are parking at the closure, in the park parking lot.  There will be signs directing you to the climbing areas.  Be prepared for 2 (easy) stream crossings.  Both crossings can be done via dual cables.

What to bring:

If you are a new climber interested in the  UCanClimb2 stations, you should bring any equipment you own (shoes, harness, helmet, chalk bag).  Don't worry if you don't have any equipment, we have it for you.  Wear sneakers and comfortable, loose fitting clothing.  Bring some bottle water (climbing can be strenuous) and a snack.

If you are a volunteer who is planning to clean, you might want to bring work gloves, water, snacks etc. And your climbing gear of course!!!
