Ecology

Ecology is the study of the environment.  As we have discussed, this is the 20th anniversary of the worst oil spill in the history of the US, the Exxon Valdez oil spill of 1989 in Alaska.  Without an understanding of environmental components and organismal relationships; scientists, government agencies and non-profit groups would not have been able to find solutions to improve the situation.

In this unit we will explore the interactions found in the environment by researching biomes and recreating the food web of an owl through an owl dissection activity.  We will also explore the current status of human population growth and predict the impacts of 9 billion people on planet earth in the very near future!
