HealOr, a clinical-stage biopharma firm, is a privately owned company, founded in 2002, focused on developing a new class of topical therapeutics. By understanding and modulating molecular mechanisms of skin cells, HealOr demonstrates a novel approach to dermatology and has developed a unique and versatile pipeline for the treatment of chronic hard-to-heal wounds and other skin pathologies including: acute post-surgery wounds, skin disorders associated with diabetes and other chronic diseases ("skin at risk"), dry skin, acne, psoriasis, and scar prevention.

Technology

HealOr’s unique technology is based on intervening directly with the skin signaling pathways and molecular mechanisms that stimulate skin cells to migrate, proliferate, differentiate, and secrete matrix-fibers.

Using its R&D platform, HealOr’s scientists have discovered the importance of the Protein Kinase C (PKC) family of enzymes in skin physiology and pathology. Based on these findings, which were corroborated in numerous animal models, HealOr has developed novel products composed of PKC-modulating agents.

Clinical trials with the company's lead drug candidate HO/03/03 targets chronic wounds, including impaired wound healing of diabetic foot ulcers, venous ulcers and pressure ulcers. The compound has already completed a successful Phase I/II clinical trial in diabetic foot ulcers in several medical centers in Israel showing that 70% of treated wounds achieve closure between three weeks and three months. A multi center, FDA regulated, Phase II/III clinical trial is onging in the USA and India. Final results are expcted in 2010.
