About Us

Biofarm is a SEC Registered Corporation with Company Registration Number CS200404871.  Previously, the Corporation is engaged in buying and selling of marine products (i.e. abalone, cuttlefish, giant squid, kidney scallop, bloody clam and nylon shell). However, due to the ever-dwindling marine resources in Samar as a result of over-fishing and use of illegal fishing methods the corporation decided to focus on sustainable agriculture by promoting biodiesel production and spearhead in developing the otherwise marginal, idle, and unproductive cogonal lands in Samar.

    Biofarm shall also establish linkages with local people's organization and non-govern- ment organizations.  It has now a standing memorandum of agreement with Sandigan Credit Cooperative and its members interested to plant Jatropha curcas, locally known as "Tuba-tuba".

    The corporation has already started developing a 2-hectare demo-farm for biodiesel production at Brgy. San Vicente, Catbalogan City.  A small-scale open-nursery was developed under the canopy of Mahogany for the propagation of  eight hundred (800) seedlings as mother plants.

    Currently the corporation is shortlisting landowners in the vicinity for contract growing. The President is also negotiating with D1 Oils plc, a UK-based global producer and processor of biodiesel which expressed positive interest on the proposal.

Marine Resource Conservation Project

FishBase -- Biofarm will be compiling a picture database of local marine products or fish landing in Catbalogan City.  This database of marine resources found in Maqueda Bay & Samar Sea will be our legacy and for the delicacy of Catbaloganons and Samareños, in general.

Mang Pedro Well -- This project was primarily intended to water the plants but if found potable farmers and house- holds living nearby will be benefited by this well due to the absence of drinking water in the area.
