7:00pm, Wednesday, May 20th - Ames Ride of Silence

Meet behind Skunk River Cycles, 308 Main Street, Ames, Iowa. Meet around 6:30 PM and leave at 7PM.
 
The route will be the same as last year:
The route is as follows: Meet behind Skunk River Cycles by 6:30 PM and leave at 7PM; Go north on Kellogg to 6th; East on 6th to Duff; North on Duff to 24th St; West on 24th St to Stange; South on Stange to University Blvd; East on University Blvd to 6th St; East on 6th St (through Brookeside Park); Right on Northwestern and then down Main St.; Right on Clark and left into parking lot back to Skunk River Cycles.
 
There will be a group picture taken at the start of the ride!
 

Join cyclists worldwide in a silent slow-paced ride (max. 12 mph/20 kph) in honor of those who have been injured or killed while cycling on public roadways.

    Tonight we number many but ride as one
    In honor of those not with us, friends, mothers, fathers, sisters, sons
    With helmets on tight and heads down low,
    We ride in silence, cautious and slow
    The wheels start spinning in the lead pack
    But tonight we ride and no one attacks
    The dark sunglasses cover our tears
    Remembering those we held so dear
    Tonight's ride is to make others aware
    The road is there for all to share
    To those not with us or by our side,
    May God be your partner on your final ride

    The Ride of Silence is a worldwide event and this will be the 2nd year for Ames.  A total of 9 Iowa cities have registered Ride of Silence events this year.
