Big Sky Alpacas are situated at Sunnyvale Farm, Bean Creek, Northern New South Wales. Bean Creek is situated in Kyogle Shire, within the Tooloom Ranges area, and is easily accessed from the north coast via Casino, the tablelands via Tenterfield, and from Brisbane via Beaudesert.

Big Sky Alpacas is owned by Michelle and Paul Malt, with Orme and Sandra Malt providing day to day herd management.

We began breeding alpacas with 4 animals in September 2005, and have kept our herd relatively small.  We have found this works best for us in terms of herd management and for the size of the property that is dedicated to alpacas.  Our breeding herd is comprised of white and light fawn huacaya alpacas, although we also have a small number of coloured alpaca.  Our working stud male - Leranda Ridge Phoenix ET (solid white) - has a consistent show record, and his progeny display his positive traits in both fleece and conformation. 

We are members of the Southern Qld and Northern New South Wales region of the Australian Alpaca Association (AAA Ltd), and Michelle is involved in the activities of AAA at a regional and national level.  Our herd is managed under the Q-Alpaca biosecurity program and our membership number is 07/0221.

Michelle and Paul own a nearby property, Big Sky, where we run a commercial herd of Black Angus and Brangus beef cattle.
