Booking the Hall

Bookings

Bookings of the Hall can be made by completing the online booking form by following this link or by telephoning Gail Johnson on 01962 736556. Approximate availability of the Hall can determined by checking the Hall diary below.

Once you have requested a booking we will confirm whether the Hall is available. If it is we will send you an invoice by email (or by post if you do not have an email address).

Invoices can be paid online by credit card, debit card or PayPal, directly from the emailed invoice. Please note that your booking is not confirmed until we receive payment.

Refuse

You may not realise that, for the purposes of refuse collection, the Hall is treated as a commercial enterprise. As a result we have to pay for the collection of refuse by Winchester City Council’s contractor.

As a result of the rising costs, currently in excess of £440 per annum, and in order to maintain affordable hire rates, we can no longer provide a facility for the disposal of refuse.

It is now a condition of use of the Hall that all refuse and rubbish is removed by the hirers and taken away from the Hall and its grounds.

Failure to comply with this requirement may result in the loss of the hirer’s deposit.

Hire Charges

The Village Hall Committee decided in 2010, with great reluctance, to increase the hire charges for the Hall. This is the first change for many years but has been caused by escalating running costs for items such as insurance and heating.

At the same time the Committee has taken the opportunity to simplify the pricing structure. Therefore from 1st August 2010 there will simply be three hourly rates. The rate charged will be dependant on whether the hirer is a parish resident, a non resident or a commercial entity.

The new rates are:

Bighton & Gundleton Residents                £5.50 per hour

Non Residents                                           £8.50 per hour

Commercial                                              £10.50 per hour

Refundable Deposit                                   £100.00
