Events

There are several annual events which take place in the village, such as the Bighton & District Flower Show, the Village Fete and the Harvest Supper. In addition there are always one-off occurances such as shows or workshops from the highly popular and extremely professional "Hog the Limelight" scheme. Details of all such events in the life of the community will be found on these pages as they become available.

Bighton and District Flower Show 2011

The 2011 Bighton and District Flower Show was held at the end of
July. This year the number of entries was again down slightly on the previous year. Fruit and vegetable entries were hit by the hot dry spring followed by a more gloomy and wetter early summer. In fact exhibitors were struggling to provide ripe tomatoes and sufficient soft fruit.

Despite the name, the show is not just about flowers. There are also categories for vegetables, arts and crafts and cookery and other produce. In addition, there are also categories specifically for the younger members of the community.

The scorecard for the day can be found here.
