Welcome to the website of the
OBF Social Badminton Club

Did you know that Bicester, Oxfordshire, UK, has two thriving badminton clubs?

Our OBF Social Badminton Club is for recreational players looking to start the game, improve their play, want to play occasionally, or even trying to keep fit !

We are a friendly and informal club who play on Tuesday nights at the Cooper School sports hall, Bicester, Oxfordshire, UK.
The hall is operated by Cherwell Distirct Council and thus we are open to everyone, and have all 4 courts to ourselves.

Currently, the club runs from 8pm to 10pm every Tuesday, and the cost is £3 per person for the evening, on a pay-as-you-play basis.
We normally have a court set aside for beginners and juniors, so there is no need to feel out of your depth.

Our sessions are open to anyone aged 14+

All shuttles are provided, and we have spare rackets available for those who just want to give the game a go without splashing out.

---   In fact, your first evening is FREE   ---

That's right, why not come along for a try - it will cost you nothing !!!

If you feel like coming along, please phone Bea on T:01869-600952, email Mel at 0309@bicesterbadminton.co.uk , or just turn up on the night and ask for Bea, Leisa or Mel.

Coaching is available on both stroke play and tactics for those wishing to improve their game, and we hold occasional competition nights for those wanting to test their skills against others in an informal way.

For those wishing to compete in a formal league setting, we are pleased to be associated with the Bicester Badminton Club, who represent Bicester in the Banbury Town Badminton League and the Oxford & District Badminton League. The BBC is always looking for competitive players of all ages who want to play regularly. The club plays at the Bicester Sports Centre on Friday nights.

And finally, don't forget Badminton England.
I heartily recommend a trip to the All-England Open Championships, held in March every year, and only a 15 minute walk from Birmingham Moor Street station.

From Tuesday 29th September we will be at our regular winter time of 8pm till 10pm. We suggest that younger children (11yrs to 14yrs) should attend for the first hour, as ages 15 to 85 will be given priority after 9pm.

Now that we are back at Cooper School, on Tuesday 4th August, we will have a small doubles competition during the evening (start about 8pm). This will allow the juniors to attend as normal, and still provide a bit of fun for the regular players.

01 July 2009
It was good to be back at Cooper School sports hall again, with all 4 courts available to us. It was also good to see some new faces. We also had 3 juniors with us for the first hour.
Bea coached the youngsters, Mel helped the new players and Douglas worked with the boys team in practising their singles match techniques.
