BIB is transparent.  To learn about the power of transparency, look at the book by Bennis, Goleman and O'Toole.

Operations Bank Account #149 293 116
located at BB&T Bank
110 East Broward Blvd.
Fort Lauderdale, FL 33301
under the watchful eye of Donna Drake
our favorite banker

The Dedicated Project Account
#149 293 396  is a 100% pass-through account.
All bank fees and fundraising costs are covered by the operations account.  When you send $100 to Jennie Hinde's New Dawn Association campaign (the Gordon Dyke Education Fund), then $100 shows up in the New Dawn account (with enough to cover the bank fee on the other side).

$      250           Jennie Hinde's project

$       20            Egal Boarding School for Girls

$       10           John Moodie's education trust

Thank you, BB&T Bank!
BB&T Bank in Fort Lauderdale has a policy of granting FREE checking (no charges) to charities.
As long as there are fewer than 225 deposits per month, there are no fees on the Dedicated Project Bank Account (#396).

The aim is for this page to be linked to itemized donation pages for each project.  Then anyone with an Internet link can see where the money is going.

The unrestricted operations fund covers the administrative costs of donations headed to these projects.  Every cent of a donation to a restricted project will eventually make its way to the intended project.

In most cases, to ensure security and most effective use of funds, BIB sends funds by bank wire, using the unrestricted funds to cover the cost of sending money to the intended projects.  For example, once a year BIB sends a bank wire to Jennie Hinde's New Dawn Association project.  This procedure reduces the cost of bank fees.

In the past, three separate donations of $200 (totaling $600) to Jennie's project could be reduced by the bank fees at both ends ($40 and $50) to $110 x 3, so Jennie's fund would receive only $330 instead of the full $600.  If the three donations are deposited with BIB, the full $600 will be sent to Jennie's side with a cost of only $40 of bank fees on her end, so that $600 turns into $560.

If you would like to see the annual report of our organization, we'll have it ready in January 2012.

BIB aims to be an efficient "pass-through" agent.  If you want to support our marketing and education efforts, we have an unrestricted operations account, which includes our efforts to distribute electronic books and audio CDs to people in the USA and elsewhere.  We pay for promotional materials out of that account (149 293 116).

If you wish to support one of the projects designated by BIB, your check will go into the "Project bank account" and the funds will be distributed directly to the project as efficiently as possible.  100% of the donation leaves the USA.  (There is usually a bank fee at the other end, which BIB usually covers with money from the unrestricted Operations 116 account.)

If you have a suggestion about a project that deserves support, please contact us.  The project can be in the USA or elsewhere -- just show us how the project will help teenagers and other people in the USA communicate effectively with teenagers and other people in other countries.   For example, a literacy program organized by a professor at University of Florida is currently under evaluation.  I heard about the program and I hope it will be part of the list of dedicated programs supported by BIB donors. -- S. McCrea, Executive Director
