Welcome to the website of Bridgend Gospel Hall, Kilwinning, Ayrshire, Scotland.
The little Gospel Hall situated at the side of the bridge over the River Garnock has been in existence for over 100 years. More people that we could possibly estimate have passed through its Sunday School & Bible Class and attended the Gospel Meetings down through the years.
Despite the passing of the years there is today still a very active company of committed Christians who regularly attend and seek to follow, not some strange ideas of our own, but simply the principles and teaching clearly laid out in the Bible, the Word of God.
![]() It is a fact that the whole integrity and reliability of the New Testament rests on the question, 'Did Jesus really rise from the dead?
The apostle Paul recognised the importance of that fact when he said,
Luke, who has been described as 'one of the greatest of historians' writes in one his two New Testament books, 'I have carefully investigated everything from the beginning' (Luke 1:3 NIV).
In the other of his books he writes of Jesus that, '... he showed himself alive after his passion by many infallable proofs, being seen of them forty days ...' (Acts 1:3 KJV)
Following his resurrection Jesus appeared to many of his followers on as many as 10 different occasions, some involving only a few people and others where he met with many people at once.
These appearances occurred at all different times of the day, outdoors and indoors and to different types of people. On some occasions all 11 disciples were present and once there were 500 people present at the one time, so these were not hallucinations. He physically rose from the dead!
He said, 'handle me and see for a spirit has not flesh and bone as you see me have ...' He ate food along with his disciples!
Listen to the apostle Paul's words again when he wrote, 'Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; and that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures'. (1Cor 15:3-4)
