The Bowling Green Fencing Club was originally created in 1945 as a co-educational club team and then re-established as a student organization in 1992. The club team was created in 2003 to compete in the Midwestern Fencing Conference against schools such the Ohio State University, the University of Michigan, Notre Dame University, and many others. Individual members can also compete in United States Fencing Association if they chose to do so. Our mission is to promote the sport of fencing in northwest Ohio. In doing so we hope to promote personal growth and leadership, and provide the best available resources to help our members reach their goals. We strive to help our members obtain these goals in a safe, accessible environment focused on building enduring traditions and creating new friendships. Fencing can be a fun hobby, an interesting way to stay in shape, or a lifelong passion. You needn't worry about previous experience, most people actually begin their fencing career in college, and the club has a strong tradition of upperclassmen teaching new recruits the basics. And while you can expect a few bruises every now and then, the sport is one of the safest in the world. A typical practice includes about 20 minutes of warm-up exercises and stretching, 30 minutes of footwork and bladework drills, and the rest of the night to open-fence. You are welcome to come for a few weeks of practice to see if you like the sport. We also understand that will not be able to attend all the practices. Your schoolwork comes first and you are free to chose what days work best for you. All of our practices are held in 221 North Eppler. It is the large gym at the very end of the building. Our practice times are as follows: Fall 2011:
Monday: 8:00pm to 10:00pm Wednesday: 8:00pm to 10:00pm Thursday: 8:30pm to 10:00pm 7 :00pm - 9:00pm7:00pm - 9:00pm Spring 2012:
