Anzac Day 2010

posted Apr 24, 2010 9:16 PM by Frank Dunstan   [ updated Apr 25, 2010 2:58 AM ]
Bushfires NT staff and volunteers attended the Dawn Service at the Adelaide River War Cemetery and the march and service at Humpty Doo. They met up with some of their colleagues from NTFRS and St John Ambulance.

Anzac Day 2010

At Adelaide River I thought the choir from Taminmin High School singing an anti Anzac Day song a little strange. Some chalkie's idea, I suppose.

And the band played waltzing matilda:

Last verse:

Now every April I sit on my porch
And I watch the parade pass before me
I see my old comrades, how proudly they march
Renewing their dreams of past glories
I see the old men all tired, stiff and worn
Those weary old heroes of a forgotten war
And the young people ask "What are they marching for?"
And I ask myself the same question
