Roadside signs

How many times have you slowed down for signs warning of road works ahead with speed restrictions, only to find no sign of any workers or work in progress?

How many times have you seen these same signs in place for long periods, sometimes for weeks, still with no sign of any workers or new work happening?

After a while, people just ignore these signs and don't slow down, much to the annoyance of contractors when there is actually work happening.

The same applies for other signs left out when they should be taken in.

I had to go into town today and saw "Fire Ban Today" signs by the road in two different BFNT Brigade areas and in an NTFRS area. The recent block of fire bans ended at 0500 this morning, yet in the afternoon there are still Fire Ban signs out.

Brigades that put these signs out must take them in when the ban expires, otherwise the public are liable to treat them with contempt and ignore them.
