Sent in by CFCO Steve Sutton We need ushers for the upcoming AFAC/Bushfires CRC conference from 8 – 10 September 2010 (go to http://afac2010.org.au/ to check out the conference) The ushers at AFAC are commonly called “red shirts” as, sensibly, they are all dressed in bright red shirts to make identification easy. The duties of the red shirts are outlined in the attached flyer. Depending on how many we get we might also request red shirts to assist with marshalling of people onto buses for the conference dinner etc. The benefits of being a red shirt are three: a) You get to help the smooth running of your local conference (create good and/or lasting impression on delegates) b) You get into the conference (you can sit in on sessions you are rostered off and visit the exhibition) c) You get a red shirt. We need a number of red shirts for each of the three days of the conference as follows Day 1 : 16 Day 2 : 24 Day 3 : 20 We intend to spread these numbers between Bushfires NT, NTES and the NTFRS; so we need 5 – 7 “bushfires” red shirts per day. If you are interested in being a red shirt, or know someone who is, please contact Lorna on 8922 0844. This offer extends to all BFNT personnel and their families. Open the PDF attachment below for a list of Red Shirt duties. Volunteers are advised to have their flu shots - there will be a lot of delegates coming up from a southern winter. |
