I understand that Bushfires NT staff will commence firebreak inspections in the Vernon Region (essentially the greater Darwin rural and Batchelor/Coomalie areas) at the beginning of June. All rural land holders are asked to put in their firebreaks as soon as possible, weather permitting. Late season rains have flooded some areas that had previously dried, delaying firebreak slashing by a few weeks (my own block included). This is taken into account when inspections are carried out. |
