Bushfires NT officers start inspecting blocks in the Darwin rural area from the beginning of June to ensure they have installed firebreaks in accordance with Section 47 of the Bushfires Act. Land holders with dry blocks should have firebreaks in place now. Blocks that are still too wet should have firebreaks installed as soon as the land dries out. If you don't want your property burnt in a wildfire, put in your firebreaks. People who wait until they get a Warning from Bushfires NT before putting in firebreaks are a menace to their local community. People who need to be prosecuted before they put in firebreaks are an absolute menace. Contact Bushfires NT or your local Volunteer Bushfire Brigade for more information.
