There is a lot of mention in the Bushfires Act and Regulations of Fire Protection Zones, where certain rules apply, such as the requirements for fire breaks, Permits to Burn, etc. The Northern Fire Protection Zone is shown shaded orange on the map. The yellow area comes under NTFRS and is covered by the Fire and Emergency Act.
NTFRS areas include Howard Springs, Bees Creek, Virginia, Coolalinga, Girraween and Humpty Doo. The southern boundary is Jenkins Road, south of the Elizabeth River.
