This one's for Jesse - we couldn't resist going back to Madeline Bistro for the vegan "Chicken" and Waffles. YUM! This is so good, it begs the question - why eat real chicken in the first place? Madeleine Bistro is another vegan restaurant hidden in the San Fernando Valley, but if you've got a craving for an evil-icious breakfast, you can't do better. Honestly, all I've ever had there is the "chicken" and waffles but that's how good they are. In fact, every time we've gone there, no matter the size of the group, EVERYONE orders the "chicken" and waffles. If you're feeling extra evil towards your diet, you'll order the beignets as well. I mean, why not? How often are you going to slog out to the Valley anyway? Well, after you have Madeleine's "chicken" and waffles, probably a bit more often. As you can see from the photo, white linen tableclothes and napkins on the table make this a great date restaurant - if you're into that sort of thing. They serve wine, not that I've had it - breakfast, remember? UPDATE: I forgot to mention that they seem to only have one waffle iron. So if you have a large party of people ordering the chicken & waffles, expect a wait. On the upside, we've always gotten freebies because of the wait. Apple pie is a part of almost all American Traditions. It has, in a way, become a tradition itself. It is what brings families around the table for dessert after a good, Thanksgiving meal.
