I'm an LDS composer who is in the unfortunate position that most new composers find themselves in - as an unknown, it's hard to find someone willing to publish my music. After receiving some polite rejections, as well as some notices that certain presses wouldn't even bother to look at my music since I'm not an "established composer," I decided to try posting my music myself. Just to see if anyone else likes it, at first. For now, the music is free; if it becomes popular I will probably add a small charge per copy. Please be honest and tell those you share this music with where it came from. You can contact me to let me know if you do or don't like the music at sira_valtair@yahoo.com. Please be honest, but polite - constructive, detailed criticism is appreciated, but insults are not.

To satisfy your curiosity, here's the basics about me: I graduated from BYU in 2005 with a degree in Humanities, focusing on Classics. I've been married for 4 years so far, and I have one young daughter. I spent a lot of time in the Music department at college, and I've sung and played the piano most of my life. I can't imagine my life without music. I began composing in high school, typical slushy stuff, but at college, I began focusing on sacred choral music instead. This is due to two important things that happened my freshman year. I was in charge of coordinating all the music for church on Sundays, which meant I put together 3-4 musical numbers a month. Occasionally, we couldn't find good arrangements that suited the topic for the meeting that day, and I found that I had a knack with harmonies. This discovery came thanks to the second event I mentioned. My roommate and a few other good girl friends went around singing everywhere. And I mean EVERYWHERE. Singing a capella and making up our own harmonies to any type of music broadened my horizon quickly. I developed an ear for putting parts together in traditional and not-so-traditional ways. Impromptu harmonizing quickly led to deliberate composing on my part, and here we are today, with a whole website full of music. I hope you enjoy it!
