ONLINE COOKIES STORE - CRANBERRY BAR COOKIES - COOKIE JAR GIFTS. Online Cookies Store
Day 57 of 365 "Don't touch my Gingerbread square!!!" HUG, a Swiss cookie company, sells these gingerbread squares, HUG crema. When we moved to our Swiss village all the way back in May I could find these biscuits at our village COOP, large grocery store in Switzerland. My kids and I were addicted and would often eat them with tea for a gouter (snack). After about three weeks of buying these yummy treats our COOP stopped selling them. I was heartbroken. On Friday, as I was nearing the check out lane I saw a package of MY FAVORITE gingerbread squares and I snatched the last one up. I will be returning bright and early Monday to see if there are more of these lovely treats as the last package was finished off today. On the package it states that this is an autumn cookie. I am not sure about that since I bought them at our COOP into June. I don't remember reading that on the package then. Maybe, it is seasonal for fall and spring???? EDIT: It seems there is HUG Crema which I found when we first came here and our store stopped carrying those for whatever reason...and now there are these gingerbread squares which are part of a fall cookie collection. About five years ago, I found the best recipe for gingerbread cookies online. These cookies melted in your mouth. I have got to find it again so that I can make it whenever I want. :) Gingered carrot cake cookies
I recently saw a recipe online that looked and sounded so interesting I had to stop what I was doing, stand up and go to the store for ingredients right then. I had to start baking them immediately. I ended up being late for the new episode of Glee, (a big no-no in our house,) AND the dishwasher broke while I was making them and STILL I was undeterred. I called hubby in to crawl under the sink and unplug the dishwasher while I continued on intermittently mumbling things like “carrot. cake. cookie...” and “gingerrrrr...” I made those cookies like the wind, toasting and chopping and shredding and hoping, no, knowing, they would be amazing. Unfortunately, our DVR, for the first time EVER, did not record Glee from the beginning. So the whole family, who had patiently waited for me to join them, ALSO missed the first 40 minutes. I feel a little responsible. If I hadn’t been hypnotized by the cookies, we wouldn’t have missed half the show. These are the best cookies I’ve ever made and ever tasted. I love them that much. So much so that a broken two-drawer dishwasher and a missed episode of Glee were totally, completely worth it. (And I can always download the episode from iTunes!) Recipe link can be found on my blog.
