CX2010-0512-26 HMCS CALGARY (18 Jul 2010) Ordinary Seaman Patrice Mongeau of Sherbrooke, QC, a sonar operator on board Her Majesty’s Canadian Ship (HMCS) Calgary takes time to work with and learn the equipment he will use throughout his career. OS Mongeay is a new member to the Canadian Navy having only completed his initial trade qualification as a sonar operator on 25 Jun 2010. OS Mongeau was flown to Pearl Harbor, Hawaii to join his first ship HMCS Calgary. HMCS Calgary is currently participating in the Rim of Pacific Exercise (RIMPAC) 2010. RIMPAC is a biennial, multinational maritime exercise held off Hawaii designed to improve interoperability and understanding between military forces from nations with an interest in the Pacific Rim. As such, the series of exercises has contributed to the security and stability of the region for 22 years. Canada has participated in every RIMPAC exercise since 1971. Model is the beautiful Caitlin. Shot in a public park here in Calgary. Begged, borrowed and stole(rented) to get some equipment to start practicing off camera lighting. This is from the second session this weekend. Strobist: Nikon SB800 through 30 inch umbrella camera left at about 1/2 power. Evening sunlight from the right, white umbrella just camera right behind the fence to diffuse the sunlight and prevent a harsh shadow from the fence post.
