At the Jackfield Tile museum ,Ironbridge Gorge Trust site which is in the Village Jackfield near the south bank of river Severn. In 1870 the Yorkshire businessman Henry Powell Dunnill formed the Jackfield Tile factory to make ceramic tiles- mostly black and white Jackfield-ware like glazed earthenware used particularly for mugs in pubs, door surrounds and giftware. The museum is housed in a decorative tile factory building ,attached to the museum is the Craven Dunhill factory which still produce those tiles.Where on certain days we can see how these Victorian hand-made tiles are made with original tools and process or create your own design. This fascinating museum displays gas-lit galleries and period room settings, showing the many different places that were graced with the superbly decorated tiles once made at Jackfield.
