SHEAR BEAMS : SCISSOR SISTERS UK
Shear Beams
shear
- A strain in the structure of a substance produced by pressure, when its layers are laterally shifted in relation to each other
- cut with shears; "shear hedges"
- fleece: shear the wool from; "shear sheep"
- (physics) a deformation of an object in which parallel planes remain parallel but are shifted in a direction parallel to themselves; "the shear changed the quadrilateral into a parallelogram"
beams
- Transmit (a radio signal or broadcast) in a specified direction
- (in science fiction) Transport someone instantaneously to another place, esp. to or from a spaceship
- (beam) long thick piece of wood or metal or concrete, etc., used in construction
- (of a light or light source) Shine brightly
- (beam) smile radiantly; express joy through one's facial expression
- radio beam: a signal transmitted along a narrow path; guides airplane pilots in darkness or bad weather
Shear Studs
Not sure if these were added as part of the deck replacement or if they were existing. But these studs are used to connect the steel beams to the deck and make them act efficiently as one unit for resisting the weight of vehicles and pedestrians on the bridge. Triple Beam
This model has three beams to hold the pens. This means you can print a total of 9 different colors and line patterns at once. Other model ad two of four beams for multiples of colors.
