"I live in a world full of wonders; today I will notice & appreciate its amazing beauty & order." ~ Karen Casey Badlands National Park - 2010 - A quick look at the Badlands will reveal that they were deposited in layers. The layers are composed of tiny grains of sediments such as sand, silt, and clay that have been cemented together into sedimentary rocks. The sedimentary rock layers of Badlands National Park were deposited during the late Cretaceous Period (67 to 75 million years ago) throughout the Late Eocene (34 to 37 million years ago) and Oligocene Epochs (26 to 34 million years ago). Different environments—sea, tropical land, and open woodland with meandering rivers—caused different sediments to accumulate here at different times. The layers similar in character are grouped into units called formations. The oldest formations are at the bottom and the youngest are at the top, illustrating the principle of superposition. And despite looking very dry & hot, we arrived here last fall to temps registering 39 degrees Fahrenheit; had to pull the car over at the first pull out and trade in our shorts & flip flops for pants, hiking boots, jackets, & gloves :-) Sure beats the unbearable & miserable weather we have been having this summer :-( Have a great Thursday....thanks for all your visits & support!!!!!!
A Day Late
A Day Late
At Barton Springs, sister's film Cannon. Cassidy's and my own shoes. It's been a while since I've taken pictures, and even longer since I've been on here. I guess I just got busy, and tired. I'm always reminded of this one quote, I odn't know who said it, but my old youth pastor told it to me, it goes "Business is not of the devil, it is the devil" It's so true. Business has taken me from things I love to do, things I should do instead, and things that are truly important. I would be on a drive home from work, and realize that a week passed me by that I talked to a good friend, or any for that matter, a month would go by and I'd almost weep from realizing I hadn't even thought about my Lord. Graduating is messy buisness, especially if you're homeschooled. And going to Peru in a month. And have a job that takes advantage of you. And a mother that nags you. And a father that doesn't let you do anything. I let out a sigh as it's all over. It's passing, it's past. I should feel better, but having that pass just brings on a set of more things to do. Finish my actual school work, register for ACC, raise needed funds for Peru, fix my car. It's frustrating, especially when my natural instinct is to be lazy and procrastinate. I know God is on my side, though. I still struggle, but I often feel his calm washing over me.
