TWEEZERMAN HAIR SHEARS - CORDLESS GRASS SHEAR - SASSY SHEARS SALON Tweezerman Hair Shears
shearing Shearing day at the Wonder Why Alpaca Farm! We had many of our ZPDK there to help Andrea with her 18 alpaca. It was really cool to learn the very basics of sorting the fleece as it came off the animal. First, there's the blanket (or primary) which is the fiber off the sides and back of the animal. Then there are the second cuts, which I thought were second passes of the shears, but are actually the cuts from the hips, shoulders, and neck. The rest that gets trimmed off is "garbage". It's also really neat to feel how much heat came off the fleeces once they were sheared. I can't imagine how much relief they all felt after spending the last few days in 80 degree weather in full fleece to finally being sheared right to the skin. Every one brought great food and we all had a great time. I was really impressed that the shearer (in purple) was around my age and she sheared all day long because her dad was late getting there from another farm. Shearing
