Scissor lift batteries. Automotive scissor jack. Scissor Lift Batteries
22nd November 1997 Missing its signal lamp and 20Ib balance weight, looking decidedly anaemic and for all the world like it’s ready for the scrap pile is No.87 signal. A standard BR(WR) 111/4” disc signal, it ponders over a dumped relay and battery cupboard, lying prostrate across equally doomed trackwork. It had sat at the toes of 94a scissors crossing since 1961, admitting movements directly from the No.1 siding (the old Up relief) directly via the shunt road to Nos. 1 and 2 Reception, avoiding the running lines. Alternatively, it read out onto the Up Branch wrong direction as far as 92 ground signal, that was released by “Line Clear” from Radyr Quarry Junction signal box. Prior to 24th March 1986 it additionally oversaw movements though No. 90 crossover to No. 8 Section Sidings before they and the crossover were lifted and 87 repositioned. With the missing lamp, a good view of the backblind is possible and how it was designed to obscure the backlight on the lamp when turned more than 5o from the horizonal, telling any signalmen in advance that the signal had responded to the lever, or perhaps more importantly, had gone back to danger when the lever was replaced. I need to make a frame that bolts to the chair frame so I can remove it to change batteries and well that to bottom of the scissors jack.
