A profit from the sale of property or of an investment
(capital gain) the amount by which the selling price of an asset exceeds the purchase price; the gain is realized when the asset is sold
(Capital gain) When a stock is sold for a profit, the capital gain is the difference between the net sales price of the securities and their net cost, or original basis. If a stock is sold below cost, the difference is a capital loss.
Capital Gains was a radio programme that originally aired from 1994 to 1997. There were 9 half-hour episodes and it was broadcast on BBC Radio 4. It starred Peter Jones and Justine Midda.
