October 2011 - Sapphire (now Pepper) has found her forever home!! AUGUST 2011 UPDATE: Sapphire has been nicknamed "Pepper" and seems to like this name. She plays with her furry foster brother Duke and is doing great. She has encountered all four cats at her foster home and been batted and hissed at with no reaction other than the "what did I do to you? " look. She barked at a pedestrian passer by but when she was told "enough", she stopped barking and went back into play mode. She is a sturdy girl at 63 lbs and appears to be very versatile. She would likely fit into a home as an only dog, with other dogs, with cats, with or without children although her foster mom suggests children who are older than toddler stage so they don't get knocked over with her enthusiasm. Sapphire will sit on command and she is a loving and loyal dog. She likes to lay on the couch with her foster mom and will spontaneously give kisses. She bonds quickly and can't wait to find her forever home. Sapphire is a moderate energy dog. She has done well with people of every age, cats, and other dogs when properly introduced. She is a dominant personality dog who likes to think that she is in charge and thrives with a calm and confident leader. She is very loyal and loving toward her human. She is a real love bug and loves to be close enough to touch her person. Many evenings, we spend some quality time together lounging on the couch. Sapphire's foster family has been doing some training with her. She has come a long way in a short time and is a very smart girl. She will now sit before being fed and will sit at the door to go out. She does not like to be left inside for long periods without contact with a person, but with a regular routine she is doing better and seems more secure. Sapphire loves to ride in the car and she displays the BEST manners there! She rides either in a crate or free, and does well either way. She will sit either in the front seat or the back seat and watch out the windshield. Sapphire barks very infrequently and if she does bark, when her foster mom tells her "enough," she stops. She is not fond of the crate but will crate at night for bedtime with little fuss and is very quiet in the crate. She is not a whiner or crier. When she wakes up in the morning, she will start making noise but it is because she cannot see anyone. She really is a fabulous dog whose love is boundless. JUNE 2011: Sapphire is an absolute sweetheart! She is a Mountain Cur mix and is three years old. She was found stray and never claimed - she had had puppies and we don't know what happened to them. Sapphire has a happy-go-lucky personality that endears her to everyone. She is a great walking companion and is housebroken as well as crate-trained. Sapphire loves to be in the yard, where she bounds about happily and loves to play ball. She is an affectionate dog who enjoys quality cuddle time and will stand up for hugs. She is great with people of all ages and gets along with other dogs, can be protective of her food so it will be best to feed her separately at this time. She has been cat-tested and although friendly and interested in them, she did not try to chase them. Sapphire is spayed, heartworm negative, wormed and current on all vaccinations.

It has been a trying week, the energy of this moon building have had our toddler at the maximum volume in all things tantrum, sleep cycles are off, he is napping more during the day and staying in a light sleep throughout the night......I am emotional, tired and quick to anger I think this moon looks like a cherry tomato with the top or an egg with it's embryo but there is a part of me that sees a screaming toddler in the sky.....and hears one 24 hours a day, head pounding, 2 hours of him refusing to leave the house this morning, then taking off his clothes and shoes and saying "home is best" which is cute except when today was a day for mom to work.......he screamed so loudly in the car seat I was convinced cps was going to arrive.......this moon needs to quickly begin the wane so I can regain my sanity .... hating this mood and feeling like i need a take me away time!
