TRANSFORMERS REVENGE OF THE FALLEN made oodles of money this past weekend - opening with 60 million plus on wednesday night alone, it has been a money-making monster. i was so excited to see it. i didn't have time during the week so i carved out time for a midnight weekend show all to myself. i figured that my readers (what little there are) would appreciated an uninhibited movie review. (that and i couldn't find anyone to go with me at the ungodly hour LOL). well, after sitting through all 144,000 minutes of the movie, i only have one word: "YAWN" like X-MEN ORIGINS: WOLVERINE, i wanted to like this movie so much. i really wanted to! but sigh - i couldn't. it was a fun movie and the effects were pretty killer, but this was a bad sequel of disjointed scenes strung together by a thoroughly overused and uninspired plotline. when the first TRANSFORMERS movie came out, just the sound BOBAAAACREEEZZZZIIP of the robots changing was cool, because we had never heard it before in high-def. this time, that sound was irritating by minute 5. to build this franchise, they could and should have taken a cue from real storytellers. they used the voice of optimus prime as a centering-point for real substance. the movie went like this: action >> optimus prime talks >> action >> action >> action >> megan fox >> action >> action >> optimus prime talks >> more megan fox >> action >> optimus prime talks >> [end] >> a little more megan fox... don't get me wrong, i didn't go to this movie expecting GONE WITH THE WIND, but give moviegoers a little more credit. i have said it before and i'll say it again, american filmmakers think we are so dumb. they think a little action and T&A will make us happy. i can just see them sitting around a table - "okay, so how can we really slap them across the face with something outrageous? the action just needs to be bigger than last time cuz if it is, then we got 'em!" ....bleh. thanks but no thanks. i'll take THE TAKING OF PELHAM 123 any day over this so-so film. final thought: TRANSFORMERS REVENGE OF THE FALLEN was a fun ride, but like all rides, i want off. nexxxxxxxxxt.... btw - PUBLIC ENEMIES comes out this week!!! p.s. i shot this photo before i saw the movie in anticipation of it being a decent film. oh well...it was cool to pose with robots either way! :D
Japanese Drinks: Asahi Flame
Japanese Drinks: Asahi Flame
As the dark clouds quietly floated overhead, I took another look at the ubiquitous structure laying in front of me. Many emotions were racing through my mind, but happiness wasn't one of them. Instead, the giant flame depicted on the immense facade created feelings of fear while the fruitless search for any kind of recogizable symbols from which to ascertain the nature and function of the relic pulled intense confusion and fright from deep within me. In the name of adventure, I took the leap and darted for the enormous opening at the top. Looking back that might not have been the best choice. As I descended down the strange spiral hallway carved into the side walls, I couldn't help but reminisce about my previous treasures collected from the furthest corners of the beverage world. When would it ever enough? Suddenly the darkness gave way to sounds of splashes and a strange alien-like mist. Before my mind could deduce the origins of the sounds, I could already feel the gooey liquid creep into my socks. Deep red and brown hues were emenating from deep within the pool below my feet. Looking closer, I observed small bubbles popping with a light hissing sound, indicating a source of carbonation. The mist was thick and muffled, with a smell that hinted at moldy bubblegum and spoiled root beer. I couldn't turn back now. I treaded on, and with the pool getting deeper with every step, my entire body was soon completely enveloped in the foreign liquid - save for my face. A bit reluctant, I took the plunge into the depths. Smells and sights turned into tingles and tastes. The depths exerted increasing amounts of pressure on my body. I was starting to run out of breath, and with one foolish decision, I suddenly opened my mouth. It was too late. As the foreign ooze flowed into my cheeks, there was nothing I could do. I could taste midtones of ginger ale and highlights of bubbelicious. I could see upside-down rainbows floating through an afro forest deep below fields of mass graves. A large white disc closed in from above, and as it blocked the only source of light, a panic set in. I was going to get locked in. As I sealed the cap back onto the bottle, never to be opened again, I looked up at the other patrons at the airport McDonalds franchise. They were all but pleased. The drink? It sucked.
