NUMBER X48: Sherriffhall to Ratho Friday September 5th 2008 Get on at Sheriffhall Park and Ride, 9.48am. The daylight recently broken through. To the Royal Infirmary where Shirley is anaesthetized. Summer that never really started has gone... Sunday September 14th 2008 Start again at Sheriffhall, 4.15pm. Someone has scrawled WAT SAYING LIKE on the back of the seat ahead. He drives fast and a strong breeze comes through the open windows. Again the Infirmary, and stop alongside a car where a small girl studies a pack of Tic-Tacs. Cat hairs everywhere. A greying man in front pages through the Sunday Mail, and then at the Commonwealth Pool a young family get on, the mother with a tattooed name on her inner wrist and eating toffee popcorn. A musty, animal smell. The window of a newsagents covered in posters for low cost international phonecards, pictures of girls smiling into the receiver, On the bridges a man with rotten front teeth carrying a soft toy tiger, and stop for ages changing drivers. Shutters coming down on shops and a settling greyness of dense clouds. And breezeblocks piled together at the Haymarket tramworks. A collection in a gutter of dead leaves, cigarette ends and a lolly stick. The striplights come on, all at once on one side but then flickering and faltering at the other. Rain clouds. A house near the Forestry Commission is called LYNDHURST, and another one has a stained-glass window with a bird in the centre, maybe a thrush. A line of washing, white apart from one red t-shirt standing out vividly against the clouds. The smell has sweetened. A church says WELCOME TO ST. THOMAS and the vestibule is ineffectively illuminated with two weak fluorescents. The wet air comes pouring in but it's not yet raining, and the airport control tower across the fields with a single red beacon. 543 spaces in the Park and Ride. All headlights are on. The dual carriageway is wet and black. Turn left into Ratho. A pebbledash Scotmid and outside a boy standing next to a dustbin. And onto a cold country lane. A sign saying QUARRY. A knot of balloons tied on a gate, and tight corners covered in ivy where traffic stops to let others pass. Ebay rarity
A Cavalier GLS coupe from Jan 1979, This one'e been laid up since late 1995 and is all complete and in pretty good condition bar some surface rust. A nice new coat of that yellow will be lovely. Oh and it's only got 25k on the clock too.. Note the period tiger print seat covers..groovy.. I think a 2000 GLS Coupe would be quite rare, they only got the 2000 engine in June 1978 and the car was dropped just over a year later in Aug 79.
