Fan heater thermostat : On demand hot water heater. Fan Heater Thermostat
Thermostat-0152 it took a -long- time (days) to figure out why the system kept dying. I removed all the wires, trimmed them back, re-striped them, still blew. I bought new wire and connected the thermostat directly to the unit and had it sitting on the floor in the basement. That was stable for 2 weeks. It turns out that there is an intermitent short between the blue (common) and red (power) lines. So, even though I had 5-conductor cable in the walls I could only use 4 of them. So, I had to buy a '4 to 5' adaptor (that white box hanging down). It uses the magic of electronics to convert a single wire in to two control lines by making use of a diode pack attached to the thermostat and a control box attached to the HVAC circuit. This let me clip the broken blue wire, use the old 'fan' control line as the new 'common' line, and use the AC line to run both the AC and the heater fan independently.
