One of Berkeley's ongoing projects: Berkeley donates numerous books to Berkeley elementary schools, every couple months. We all smiled as she described the looks on the kids’ faces when they realized they got to take home the book they had chosen!Project: reServe
Used tennis balls are collected from all over and are donated to local schools. Teachers reuse the balls to cover leg chairs to create a better learning environment. For decades now, Berkeley Kiwanis has celebrated the lives of some of the maturest citizens of our city in our local Seniors Centers by donating and bringing birthday cake to them on a monthly or quarterly basis.Diapers for Vera Casey Teen Parenting Program
A relatively new ongoing project, Berkeley Kiwanis now supports a local teen program associated with the local high school that works to facilitate the well-being and self-sufficiency of teen parents by providing and coordinating comprehensive services supporting a healthy pregnancy, healthy children, and the well-being of the whole family. This holistic approach is predicated on the belief that when student parents are healthy and feel well, and have quality child care for their children, they perform better academically. |
