JOLT! What? When? Why? Where? We are hosting our first annual JOLT! on Sunday, April 26th. JOLT! is a one day program during which college students will have the opportunity to teach classes to high school students from around the Bay Area. It is modeled after similar ESP programs that are run by MIT, Stanford, the University of Chicago, and Columbia. Our goal is the spread the love of learning to a younger generation in academic as well as recreational areas of interest. It will be held on the UC Berkeley Campus from 9 am to 5 pm. Teachers are free to teach as many classes on nearly any subject imaginable.Teach Anything You Want! At ESP’s Jolt programs, our catchphrase is that you can TEACH ANYTHING. Now, we don’t really mean that. There are a few ifs, buts, and caveats. Your classes cannot be illegal, nor can you explicitly promote illegal activities (ie: “How to Deal Drugs 101”). You should, however, feel free to explore exciting, if provocative, territory (ie: “Why People Deal Drugs 101”). Our greatest classes come from teachers sharing their particular passion. For some, that’s theoretical math. For others, that’s 18th century literature or ultimate frisbee. Find something you love, something you really care about, and you’ve found something you can teach! You can pick any subject you can imagine, for 1 hour or 4 hours; by yourself or with the help of friends. Search the depths of your mind for something that really inspires you, scroll down, and sign up!
