Chief Executive appointment within British technology company
I am currently working on a CEO role for a small British software firm that is looking to undertake a significant change in strategic direction and consequently is undertaking a Search for a CEO that can help the board and investors achieve this.
This company is currently a software tools & High Performance Computing company which has identified a strategic opportunity within the Investment Banking vertical. The company now requires a CEO who can suppport and direct the business through this strategic change.
The business is already quoted on AIM, but the board are happy to consider a first-time CEO, who will be hands-on and perhaps is looking for experience working in a public company.
There is of course an equity stake in the business in addition to a superb package.
Search for a SVP Sales & Marketing to bring some new technology to market.
This British company has recently been awarded the Technology Pioneer award by the World Economic Forum and is widely regarded as being one of the highest-potential technology companies in the world.
In 2006, the company also was a recipient of a Red Herring 100 Europe award.
Their field is 3D digital sensing: their technology is integrated and manufactured in to everyday electrical products using microprocessor-based sensors. This allows these "dumb" products to become "smart technology" by being connected to the internet for monitoring and control purposes. You will have come across similar technology in the domain of Home Control, but this is more focussed on reducing major corporates' carbon footprint (via OEMs).
The blue-sky thinking is to become the de facto standard in carbon emissions control (for electricity consumption) by putting their technology on every manufactured appliance in the world at microprocessor level.
Having recently secured nearly £11m, the CEO & Founder is now looking for a number two who can define and implement the sales & marketing strategy from scratch and bring the product to market.
It is a greenfield opportunity to define and implement a strategy and to capitalise on the company's first-to-market advantage. Such is the investors' belief in the timeliness of this technology, the revenue target for the next 12 months is $100m, which is fairly ambitious for a company of 50 people.
CPO (Chief Product Officer), Online Media
I am currently working with a pre-IPO online media company turning over around £45m. The business is backed by a well-known and very highly regarded VC in this space.
The company's senior management team is all blue-chip: Oxbridge, Dell, Unilever, British Airways, PepsiCo etc and as such require a like-minded individual to join them as Chief Product Officer which specific emphasis on web presence and online community.
This is a strategic board-level role reporting directly to the CEO.
The role will also entail opening and driving the business in other European countries.
VP Sales EMEA - leading VC-backed startup
We are currently working with a leading VC backing a startup. This VC's track-record for successfully bringing new technologies to market and companies to IPO is second to none.
The company's technology is very sexy, but the key is that the market is crying out for this technology due to recent legislation, particularly in the UK, but also internationally.
It is a managed services business model which means that whilst the revenue target for EMEA this year will be £5m, the sales order value target will be £13m for EMEA.
The investors and the CEO (based in the US) are looking for a VP EMEA to drive revenue to £23m by 2009 by building a team in EMEA and working with both direct and channel business.
This is an embryonic business so the stock option potential is enormous. There is of course an extremely attractive salary package on offer in addition.
Managing Director, Manufacturing / Engineering / Electronics Sector,
> £100k basic + bonus + package
Part of a $10bn US corporate, which manufactures sensors and controls for the Process Automation and Factory Automation marketplaces.
Managing Director of the European division, currently 65 strong, turning over c£12m.
The business is growing rapidly, particularly in Germany.
First-time MD or GM coming from a mixed background which will have included an Operations Management role would be ideal.
Strong commercial leadership combined with channel management and marketing plus a strong belief in Kaizen / Lean Manufacturing / Process Improvement etc would be a perfect fit to this role, especially as a key part of this role will be to define and implement the strategy for this business.
Long term career development opportunities include potential to advance to President of a $100m business and beyond.
My client is particularly interested in talking to people who have worked for General Electric (GE) and Honeywell.
Director of Performance Management, niche management consultancy
My client is a fast-growing niche Performance Management Consultancy with a FTSE 100 client base.
Their most long-standing client is a major British mobile operator.
All of their relationships are at CxO level.
They are looking for a Principal Consultant whom will be able to move to a board level position within the business in the medium term.
In brief, they are looking to bring on board a heavyweight whom will ultimately (but not initially) be appointed to the board.
This is a business growth opportunity mixed with strategy and finance consulting.
Managing Director - Global Operations
I am currently conducting an Executive Search on behalf of an £8m T/O staffing solutions business.
This embryonic company is very well backed, having had a £20m investment into its RPO technology alone and as a result the business is growing rapidly.
It already has offices in the US, the UK, the Middle East and the Far East and is growing rapidly. Indeed, the company is looking to open a further 2 international offices this year.
The CEO has identified the need for an experienced managing director who has worked at an international level and ideally has a background within Managed Services and/or Staffing Solutions.
This is a wealth-creation role as there is a five year plan in place for an exit strategy, probably through trade sale.
