"from freedom to facism"
The Film
Determined to find the law that requires American citizens to pay income tax, producer Aaron Russo ("The Rose," "Trading Places") set out on a journey to find the evidence. This film which is neither left, nor right-wing is a startling examination of government. It exposes the systematic erosion of civil liberties in America since 1913 when the Federal Reserve system was fraudulently created. Through interviews with U.S. Congressmen, a former IRS Commissioner, former IRS and FBI agents and tax attorneys and authors, Russo connects the dots between money creation, federal income tax, and the national identity card which becomes law in May 2008. This ID card will use Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) chips which are essentially homing devices used to track people. This film shows in great detail and undeniable facts that America is moving headlong into a fascist police state. Wake up!
There are 190 countries in the world. Our military has bases in 130 of them, yet our own boarders remain open to whom ever wants to come here.

Ben's Position as stated to the Altoona Star, Wisconsin
The 3 most important issues facing Americans today are mounting national debt due to entitlements and runaway spending, the corresponding tax and regulation burden on productive Americans, and the occupation of Iraq and Afghanistan as well as American Jingoism around the globe.
According to government sources, our national debt is 9 trillion dollars. David M. Walker, former Comptroller General under the current Bush administration maintains that the true scope of the debt including obligations to Social Security and Medicare is $52 trillion, which is $410,000 for every full-time worker in America. Even if a balanced budget were passed, the debt would continue to grow $2 trillion per year. Walker says that the only way out of this mess would be to double taxes or cut spending by 60% over the next 30 years. We can’t run our households by piling up debt, why do we allow our elected officials to run our country that way?
Because the government can spend money without restraint - just put it on the credit card so to speak, it also has no problem raising taxes and adding surcharges. The hidden cost of compliance and regulation are an additional tax burden on all Americans as these costs are included in the price of all products we buy. Much government regulation is designed to help successful and profitable industries such as agribusiness, energy and manufacturing by stifling or eliminating competition. Once again, the taxpayers and consumers lose. We can’t cut taxes until we cut spending and this next congress must face the challenge. Eliminating the IRS and replacing our tax system with a ‘goods and services’ sales tax should be given serious consideration.
We are spending $400 million per day keeping US troops in the Middle East. Our occupation of these countries is an illegal and immoral act of aggression. I support our troops, but believe they should be here in the US protecting the borders of our country. We presently have troops in 130 countries around the world and its time to bring them home.
As a Libertarian, I believe that our Constitution was very clear on the function of our Federal Government - to protect and preserve the borders of our country and to provide a fair legal system to help people defend themselves against force and fraud. Anything else the Federal Government is doing is usurpation of the powers enumerated in the Constitution and Bill of Rights.
The Democrats and Republicans enjoy the status quo and continue to advocate big government solutions to problems that, in many cases, were caused by government in the first place. Citizens need to demand that their elected officials stop playing Santa Claus, giving out favors and goodies, and start running the country like a business that has to end up with a bottom line in the black.
I feel I’m the best candidate for the 3rd District Congressional seat because I’m the only one addressing the issue of reining in the government while we still can and not entrusting any more power to officials in Washington DC.
Ben Olson III, a native of Wisconsin Dells, is a builder, sawyer, musician and bartender. He and his wife, Holly, have 3 children and live on a farm west of the Dells. A Libertarian since the 80’s, he advocates for reducing the size and scale of our Federal Government to what was brought forth in the Constitution and Bill of Rights. To preserve the borders of our country and provide a fair legal system that protects everyone’s property and person from force or fraud.
- WHAT CAN YOU DO TO STIMULATE THE ECONOMY? I can vote to cut unnessesary GOVERNMENT SPENDING and of course, cut taxes accordingly and the economy will get a tremendous shot in the arm!!
- Why are you running (especially when you know you are going to lose?) When enough As soon as voters wake up to what the republicrats have been doing and demand REAL solutions, then I will win. Because of the sheer number of people who blindly vote a straight ticket, I'm at a disadvantage. However, the Libertarians do have a consistant platform that deal with the problems we face.
- WHY SHOULD PEOPLE VOTE FOR YOU OVER YOUR OPPONENTS? I'm not looking at throwing more money or expanded government power at Social Security or Health Care and unlike the incumbant, I will work to get our troops back from the Middle East NOW!
- YOU SAY YOU ARE AGAINST BIG GOVERNMENT, BUT HOW WILL PEOPLE SURVIVE WITHOUT THE "SOCIAL SAFETY NET"? Roosevelt set up the safety net 75 years ago and it was expanded by LBJ in the 60'S. With all the Federal assisstance, there are more percentages of poor people now than in the 1960's. Has government really DONE ANYTHING for the poor? Smaller Government and reduced taxation would allow for greater charitable donations. Who really cares more about the poor? The Government or the Salvation Army, St. Vincent de Paul, etc?
Ben has donated to the Nature Conservancy for many, many years. He also is an active donator to local charities and various medical charities.
