One can almost say this page is kinda like my personal Curriculum Vitae, if you will. This is to set your mind at ease that I am a professional when it comes to various aspects in the IT industry; i.e. Web Design, CMS, Web Portals, Networking, Software, Hardware, Sales, etc. My Personal BioIt all began with games back in the 90's. While playing old games with my friends, we normally got the tendency to hack most of the games by changing some code with a hex editor. Ever since I started altering code and seeing how it affected an application, I got more drawn in. Besides the software side, I got fascinated by how the software interacts with the hardware. I started taking PC's apart just for fun and modifying it by experimenting with many different hardware. This obviously gave me great insight in the workings of an Operating Unit as a whole. My Personal CareerI started off working for Radiator Distributor. After a few months at the company they saw my potential in the accounting field and promoted me, but my heart was more on the IT side. After showing them what I can do, they set me in charge of their small network. Here I started learning the basics of my networking skills. After 6 years I resigned and moved to another province in South Africa where I also began in the accounting environment and made the move up to be the Systems Administrator. Here I got much experience in working with different operating systems on different platforms, including Linux. I also started creating web pages for various institutions and companies, including the one I worked for. I'm currently working as an IT Lab Technician for one of the Universities in South Africa. As you can imagine, the pressure of being the Systems Administrator and always having the answers to problems on an IT network infrastructure is way less on my shoulders; thus, I can concentrate on what I really want to do - Web Designing and Business Information Support. And the fact that I'm working for an University, I've got the support of my fellow colleagues and some mentors. Like I mentioned earlier, I've started at the previous company designing my first web pages - but they were all static sites. Now I'm more focused on building CMS web applications which allow the client to contribute and update their own content on their own website without the need to contact the website designer again. I've always used Open Source applications for my designs. Being at a University I've got another advantage and privilege of using Microsoft's Software free of charge, especially SharePoint Server - which is CMS Designing Software. But don't get me wrong, I'm all for Open Source!!! Some Websites I Have Designed:
