Two & Three dimensional design practice

Established in 1994, Bennett Fox Designs is an Australian-based design practice which has undertaken work ranging from large scale heritage architectural conservation to designing and making individual furniture pieces. Commissions have included a solid hoop pine kitchen in a heritage listed house in Guyra, small upholstered stools, board room tables and equipment specific audio cabinets. Usually working in solid timber or high grade veneers, every design brief offers the opportunity to explore new materials & processes to create a responsive & appropriate design.

Post-graduate research at the ANU School of Art, Canberra, has also been undertaken to develop a range of ergonomic performance seating for musicians. This is an ongoing project that aims not only to design and manufacture ergonomic seating of lasting benefit to the players but is also committed to using sustainably-sourced timbers and environmentally responsible products and processes during their manufacture.

As a guiding ethos, Bennett Fox Designs looks to the manifesto of Slow Making, which values the practice of ethical making. This involves knowing the source of all materials, the environmental consequences of material choices, using making practices that do not harm either community or the environment, & making objects that last & bring delight & ease of use into the life of the owner.
