Typhoon Sendong
On Thursday, 16 December 2011 Tropical Storm Washi (Sendong) hit the Island of Mindanao, Phillipines and brought 10 hours of torrential rains that triggered disastrous flash flooding. Photos are not geo-located.
The major ports of Cagayan de Oro and Iligan are worst hit, with more than 135,000 persons affected, at least 530 fatalities and 300+ listed as missing. More than 40,000 people are homeless. Source: National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (19 Dec 2011).
