The Forge 2008 SOLD
5x7 artwork on 8x10 leather with mat and frame. Dye and stain on leather. Adapted from a door carving from Hyllestad Church in Norway. Two depictions of the 6th c. Germanic Volsunga Saga which was the inspiration for Wagner’s Ring operas. (snip) ..Regin now made a sword. He gave it to Sigurd, who took it and said "This is your smithying, Regin." Sigurd struck the anvil and the sword broke.

The Hunt 2008
5x7 art in a 8x10 mat and frame. Dye and stain on tooled leather with seal finish. Stone set in silver bezel and secured with hidden fasteners rather then glue. A hound hunts a deer in a tangled brier.
Celtic Horseman 2008
5x7 Dye and stain on leather with seal finish. Adapted from the Book of Kells. Although Celtic art pre-dates Christianity, it was not until the two merged in the early Middle Ages that Celtic art reached it’s zenith. The Book of Kells has some of the finest examples of Celtic artwork to be found.
Knight Effigy 2005 SOLD

Based on a brass rubbing of a 13th c. London Tomb.
This is a good example of how leather can be made to look old
with the application of certain stains and highlighters.
