Taken during a "Pond Jump West " non-armoured battlegroup training exercise based at Camp Wainwright, Alberta, Canada. This is a US helicopter, a flight of US helicopters being attached to us for the exercise. The Cobra, now replaced by the Apache Gunship is another "Nam" icon. The helicopter crews invited us to look over their equipment. This was rewarded, in the wake of the disastrous Iranian Hostage rescue operation by one of our squaddies "innocently" asking "I don't understand, how do you load a Hercules into one of these?" It soured relationships somewhat.
