 TIGER'S EYE TABLETOP

This tabletop was created to solve for a need for our dining room. The space for which it was meant was long and narrow, hence the design. It can accommodate six placements comfortably. The dimensions are 32" x 72" with an edge depth of 4". It is made from a bamboo plywood making it 100% sustainable. The design is very flexible in that it can be applied to a coffee table dimension and any custom length/width required.

This is a closer look at the unique edge grain. On the left is how it looks with a clear coat hi-gloss varnish and on the right is the same corner just prior to varnishing. An ottoman piece incorporating the same design style is shown below...

HEADBOARD  WITH CROSSCUT BAMBOO INSERT

I created  this piece because I love the look and texture of crosscut bamboo poles. After about 900 slices of the miter saw, I found the crosscut "coins" to have very unique color patterns within the cross-cut. Using this natural phenomenon as a graphic element, I made patterns within the insert area with the chips that had similar patterns. This is best illustrated on the 3rd image.

 What's Next?

12/07 - NEW DESIGNS. We've had a couple of inquaries for specific furnishings: an organic shaped coffee table (design below) and an indoor / outdoor bench. The coffee table will be complete by March and unfortunately the bench prospect declined when they realized the price was beyond their budget. Thankfully, we completed the design (images below) and plan to make a prototype in the Spring of 2008.

1/08 - FURNISHINGS. We're exploring partnerships with sustainable fabric and foam producers to help with cushion solutions for upcoming designs. Cushioned furniture like couches, love seats and lounge chairs are on the horizon, all of which leveraging the Tiger's Eye Line.

TIGER'S EYE OTTOMAN

This is a design for which I'm currently building a prototype. It's meant to solve the need for a coffee table large enough to eat a meal on when closed and then capable of converting to an ottoman to put your feet up on a comfortable cushion. We've also added space inside for storage of magazines and/or remotes.

INDOOR / OUTDOOR BENCH

This is a design that I plan to construct in the Spring of 2008 in chair form. The design is meant to really emphasize the dynamic edge grain to bamboo plywood. The curved "ribs" to the piece offer comfort  for anyone who sits on it.

TIGER'S EYE COFFEE TABLE

We've begun production of this piece and will have it completed by March. The shape is custom to the client's living room space which has a strong diagonal traffic flow from adjoining rooms. The client requested the same material as the Tiger's Eye Tabletop, but with a very organic shape, which is digitally mocked-up here. The legs are also bamboo plywood sealed with an eco-friendly Osmo stain.

Commissioning new work is a rewarding and exciting process for both the artist and client. Drawing on his background as a trained artist, Keith will use a combination of traditional illustrative sketching and/or 3-D modeling to develop your vision, giving you confidence in solving your functional, aesthetic and eco-friendly needs.
