ontwikkeling. |

I
have the pleasure of introducing e-EPS (http://www.epsnews.eu), the online facts
and information newsletter of the European Physical Society. Within you will
find timely announcements and information about the EPS and its members,
physics, events, and issues relevant to the European physics community. It
complements Europhysics News, the bi-monthly magazine of the EPS.
As
an EPS Member Society, you are kindly invited to share this newsletter with
your members or users. They can easily subscribe at http://www.epsnews.eu/subscribe/
You
are also welcome to contribute to e-EPS and submit news and information for
publication in e-EPS such as: news about
events, interesting research, policy issues or activities that you would like
to distribute to the European physics community Luisa Cifarelli, President European Physical Society

The European Space Agency is organising the GeoFlow challenge, a
competition open to PhD students or Postdocs interested in computational
fluid dynamics and its comparison with experimental data. The challenge
is meant to sponsor a two-year Postdoc position (in the form of an ESA
external
fellowship) at one of the institutions among those
participating to the network supported by ESA: the 'Topical Team' on
Geophysical flow simulations.
The fellowship shall include a part
time involvement in the
GeoFlow II
experiment and participation in the
activities of the topical
team.
For
specific application conditions, please visit:
www.esa.int/HSF_research
The deadline for application is 30 April 2011 |

As the conference season is beginning, many of you are
finalizing manuscripts to submit to outstanding journals, such as the European
Physical Journal, one of our main sponsors, http://www.epj.org/, also endorsed
by the EPS.
For those of you who choose open-souce publishing and in
particular the New Journal of Physics (impact factor 3.440, http://iopscience.iop.org/1367-2630/),
we have good news: as a member of the Belgian Physical Society you enjoy a
rebate on the article charge: you pay 660 EUR in stead of the regular 715 EUR.

Physicists working at or for a hospital will be interested to know that there is a specific association addressing their needs, the BHPA. You can find more information on their webpage, http://www.bhpa2011.be . On 4 and 5 February 2011 the BHPA holds a meeting in Charleroi, which we recommend for all physicists in this field. |
