Dear Resident: Since the Bel-Air Association first began in 1942, we have responded to community concerns and issues. To meet the needs of the community, the changing issues and political landscape, the Association has evolved through the hard work and dedication of our volunteer board. In recent years, we have worked with the Los Angeles Police Department and ACS Security to improve the safety of the community by installing security cameras at strategic locations. With the help of the Los Angeles Fire Department, we have also taken steps to prepare the community in the event of a major catastrophe by developing a comprehensive emergency preparedness plan. This year, 2008, we are expanding our emergency preparedness plan to include a neighborhood watch component. In 2006, the Board approved and implemented a "Good Neighbor Construction Site Practice" to help alleviate tensions between neighbors during home building projects. There are nine main areas of concern which are addressed including suggestions as to what neighbors can do to mitigate problems such as: The Association continues to beautify the common areas of Bel-Air--including our headquarter building, the major gate entrances and the many city-owned landscaped traffic islands. In 2007, we partnered with the Bel-Air Garden Club on our gate beautification project. The Association funded structural repairs and painted the gates and the garden club providing the funding to re-landscape the grounds around the gates. All of this work has been possible through the participation of you, our members. We will continue to keep you up-to-date on our activities with our quarterly newsletter and for more timely information please check out our BLOG. The past years have been good to our Bel-Air residents, and we thank you for your support. We will continue to work hard to keep Bel-Air one of the prime communities in the Los Angeles area. Sincerely, Harvey I. Saferstein President |
